We were visited by a nutritionist and a specialists from the VA Health Department focusing on the 95210 Healthy Kids Campaign who helped us learn more about maintaining a healthy lifestyle for our children and for ourselves. We learned specifics about 9-5-2-1-0 campaign – basically, our children should be sleeping 9 hours per night, eating 5 servings of fruits & veggies, spending no more than 2 hours on media/electronics, exercising at least 1 hour per day, and drinking 0 sugary drinks. Then we got some reality checks about how unhealthy common drinks can be! We also received great list of inexpensive, simple and healthy recipes from our SMU member, Chef Marisa!
